How to Beat the Poker Bad Beats

For those who don’t know what a “Bad Beat” is, it is the poker term for a hand in which what appears to be strong or even the best hand is beaten by a bigger hand.

A recent study verified that elite Poker players like to play their best hands more against weaker players and more likely to lose. Elite’s just fancy that their hands are strong and so when they get beat, they get upset rather than Build their Poker Bankroll.

Most likely, your average Poker Player is beat by stronger hands that come through with less of the elite’s even getting involved. The bigger hands they call you down with, then the more you call them and lose. The cost to building that bankroll can be huge if you play to many hours on your poker account.

Yet, a Poker Bad Beat can be avoided if you know How and what to do.

A Bad Beat can occur when you have the best hand pre-flop, on the flop or turn and lose by the river. Bad beats are commonplace in No-Limit texas hold’em and especially at higher stakes. You can’t stop it from happening, but you can avoid it. Let’s look at a recent head-to-head match between two legendary pros:

Mizrachi at AK -2.5 to win – Roark at 20/1

Mizrachi knocked at the turn, leading to a race hand between Roark and myself. Before the river, Roark put in a 2/3 pot bet. If I had any brains, I would have fold here with Roark being in the driver’s seat. However, I was determined to keep the highest seat at the table so I called.

The two of us played for about 30 hands, and at the end Roark had a huge stack and a small chip stack. He played for about 30 hands, taking about an hour to decide his fate. When he was done, I practically drove myself into the rail. I lost the majority of my chips in that session. If I could only show you the hand where I won the tournament…

I was sitting there hunched waiting for my fate to be announced. Then a wave of fear swept over me like a hot steam train as my bank account went up in a puff of smoke. I actually expected to be shown the door. However, to my surprised, the door opened and in walked a very sorry looking Mizrachi. I don’t know him at all. Well, I sure do know him. And, I’m guessing that Mizrachi didn’t buy that Aston Martin he thought he had.

That’s the sound of a poker legend changing gears. And, that’s how it is done.

Developing a strategy

If you’ve developed a sound strategy and the discipline to stick to it, you will profit from your strategy. But you’ll need the discipline to execute.

This is easier said than done, but you’re going to need to believe in yourself. If you don’t, you’ll fail.

From the beginning, understand that it’s the player that believes in himself that matters. Don’t fall for bogus winning systems or ridiculous dice-setting claims.
